Broad researchers should follow the guidelines below to dispose of equipment.

  1. Send an email to assets@broadinstitute.org, asking them decommisson the broken equipment. All items of equipment have an identification number on them. Please include this number in your email.
  2. Purchasing will confirm the deactivation and will issue you a sticker to place on the item.
  3. decontamination label
    If the equipment has ever come into contact with laboratory chemicals or any biological material(s), it must be decontaminated and marked as such. If the item's usage history is unknown, then please email the Environmental Health & Safety team at ehs@broadinstitute.org
  4. Email facilities@broadinstitute.org requesting that the item(s) be disposed of properly.
