Shades@Broad is an identity-based affinity group whose mission is to advocate for anti-racism and racial justice as a core Broad value, and build community. Shades is comprised of A4C@Broad (Afro, Afro-Carribean, and African American@Broad), AAA@Broad (Asians and Asian-Americans@Broad), and LatinX@Broad, as well as a main Shades steering committee.
By partnering with institutional leadership and other Broad entities, our goal is to cultivate a more-welcoming, inclusive, and equitable environment, free of harassment and discrimination, that will attract and retain Broadies, particularly from racially and ethnically marginalized groups. We aim to recognize and affirm the multiple identities that individuals hold by utilizing an intersectional perspective in this work.
We further aim to build community and promote ethnically diverse perspectives in all our endeavors.
