Wireless connectivity is supported at the 105B, 415M, 75A, and 320C buildings by BITS. Two networks are available, Broad-Guest and Broad-Internal.

Broad-Internal Wireless

The “Broad-Internal” wireless network is designed to provide access to internal resources for Broad-owned computers and mobile devices without using the VPN.

Once properly authenticated, your device is on a secure network and provided with the same general access rights as all our other hard-wired desktop networks. The “Broad-Internal” network works with Broad issued Windows, OS X, iOS, and Chromebook devices.

Connecting

Browse for the wireless network named "Broad-Internal" on your Broad issued Windows, OS X, iOS, or Chromebook device, then click Connect or Join, supplying your Broad username and password when prompted. After a few moments your computer/device should obtain an IP address and will be on the network. From there you should be able to connect to most internal resources without using VPN, such as:

  • Broad internal website

  • File shares

  • Virtual Machines

  • Compute Servers

  • Printers

Broad-Guest

The “Broad-Guest” wireless network is designed to provide internet access to devices not issued by Broad. This includes personal devices and devices owned by other institutions.

Connecting

The “Broad-Guest” wireless network is currently an open network, there is no registration or password required to gain access. Browse for the wireless network named "Broad-Guest" on your Broad issued Windows, OS X, iOS, or Chromebook device, then click Connect or Join. After a few moments your computer/device should obtain an IP address and will be on the network.

Broadies who want to use the "Broad-Guest'' wireless network but also need to access private Broad resources, such as file shares or VMs, must launch the Broad VPN after connecting to “Broad-Guest”. The VPN is not needed if users wish to access Broad email or other web services.
